John Day Fossil Beds National Monument

The monument's "Clarno Unit" is 18 miles west of Fossil.  With nearly 2,000 acres to explore, this is a great spot for day trips into fossilized history.  The "Sheep Rock Unit" is 60 miles south of Fossil, and the "Painted Hills Unit" is 50 miles south of Fossil.
